I feel like the term in itself is descriptive but also I feel like it's more of a spectrum rather than a binary thing like people are making it seem like. If I have one particularly strong special interest, it'll be so intense that I won't count my other special interests as special interests for a while, but now that pretty much all of my special interests are about the same intensity I'm much more inclusive of what I count as a spin or not. Gilmore Girls - A Review

SO I just finished watching all the seasons of That 70’s Show on Netflix, to help me from spiraling into a deep and dark depression of losing something very special to me (all of you can relate), I only had one option - start a new Netflix series. DUN DUN DUN! But which one could fill this void? Would I ever fall in love and become freakishly addicted with characters from TV land again? I hope so, and my journey re-began with…Gilmore Girls. With all this hype of a new season I figured it was a good time to start, I have seen a few episodes as a young lass but I am much older and wiser and smarter and cooler and prettier and more humble now. Let’s review what this new and improved me thought…

 UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. This is the only way I know how to start my review, with an UGH. Please see below. Thank you.

 1. WHY DO THEY TALK SO MUCH?

Okay let’s start with this, for those of you who suffer from anxiety please pop an Ativan before starting each episode. Why you may ask? IT IS THE ONLY WAY YOU WILL SURVIVE LORELAI GILMORE’S RUN ON SENTENCES THAT NEVER EVER EVER SEEM TO END AND SHE TALKS AND TALKS ABOUT WHO KNOWS WHAT AND WHO KNOWS WHY AND WHO KNOWS WHO AND DOES NOT EVEN TAKE A BREATH AND YOU ARE SLOWLY GOING CRAZY AND WONDERING WHEN WILL SHE STOP TALKING BUT SHE SEEMS TO FIND MORE TO TALK ABOUT AND THEN YOU ARE COMTEMPLATING YOUR LIFE CHOICES AND THE ANXIETY IS BUILDING UP AND YOU START TO FORGET WHO YOU ARE BECAUSE SHE IS STILL GOING AND IT IS PURE MADNESS AND THEN EVENTUALLY AFTER 17 HOURS SHE STOPS. The daughter is sometimes just as bad, but this is done in a mousey way and I would need to make my font smaller and quieter to achieve the desired effect.

 2. WHY DO THEY NEVER FINISH THEIR FOOD?

I have now personally taken on the responsibility to finish EVERY uneaten burger and fries I ever see in the world, until I die. I wish I kept a tally of how many damn times they ordered food from Luke’s and just left, like…why? Now I realize why they are so skinny. They burn fat from talking so much, then burn more fat from making a big deal about ordering food from Luke’s. Burn fat from yelling at Luke (still in regards to their food), then burn an additional amount of fat complaining about how their food came out. Finally, they burn the maximum amount of fat from walking away from their UNEATEN food.

And don’t get me started on the whole bizzaro coffee addition thing. Seek medical attention.

 3. MOMMY/DADDY ISSUES?

This one is especially tough for me. I am brown, with brown parents. Why does this matter? Because, for the life of me, I cannot relate in any way to Lorelai and Rory’s creepy mother daughter relationship.

Whose relationship can I relate to? Lane and her dictator, I mean Mother. Growing up my Mother was not cool with me having boyfriends, white people you will never understand. Colored people, you will understand too much.

Now let us discuss two awesome characters: Emily and Richard Gilmore. Emily is clearly a wacko but I love her so God damn much. Their issues with their annoying daughter go deep (as we can all see) but let’s be real here, she is mad annoying and I would hate her too. If my parents/grandparents invited me over every Friday for an amazing meal, paid for my expensive high school, even more expensive university, bought me a car, etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc. I WOULD BE KISSING THE GROUND THEY WALK ON. My Mom gave me a toonie once for a Double Double at Tim’s and I did the dishes for her for 3 years straight.

Some other points I would like to make but am too lazy to go into depth because my back hurts and I have some coconut Greek yogurt in the fridge that expired yesterday so I feel obligated to eat it all and not waste it because that’s bad and my back kind of hurts so perhaps I’ll lay down and OH MY GOD IT IS HAPPENING AGAIN THAT WOMAN AND HER RUN ON SENTENCES HAVE COME BACK TO HAUNT ME
